Brown Bag Sharing

As you know, students have been learning more about one another through our "Brown Bag Share".  Here you see some of our friends sharing the contents of their brown bag.  Once they have shared their items they open themselves up to questions from classmates.  Above you see Emily sharing her favorite book series, her
blanket and some photos.  Nicholas looks on intently.

Jitter Juice

Hello Everyone!! Here are some photos from the first week of school!  I read the story "First Day Jitters" to students and we talked about how we were feeling about starting school.  As a follow-up, we mixed up some "Jitter Juice",  drank it up, and  washed our jitters away!

Check out the smile box below of students tasting the Jitter Juice.  It was a big hit!

Embryology

Here is a photo of the incubator in our classroom.  Inside we have 13 fertilized eggs. Students have been learning all about the developing embryo inside each egg.  Did you know that the eggs need to be "turned" several times each day while developing?  Well, first graders do!  And they have been assisting with this important job.  I will add some photos next week of "first grade egg turners"!

At the art station this week, students made these adorable chicks!  They are on display in the classroom but will go home soon. . . .  everyone loved this activity!

Today we had a school-wide meeting! Mrs. Kelly's class and our class presented some of our new learning about solids and liquids. Our class created a voicethread to explain the process of how-to make ice cream. Check it out! We hope you like it!
