100th Day of School!

Today was the 100th Day of School!

First graders had the opportunity to visit other first grade classrooms.

In each classroom there was a new 100th day activity.  You could ask your child about the different activities that they participated in.

Here students designed a scene using the digits 1, 0, and 0.  They were so creative!

Here we are at the end of the day.  Complete with 100th day crowns and big smiles!

Kid Blogging

Last week, Aimee Boucher, our tech integration specialist, came in to lead a great lesson on kid blogging.  In particular, she spoke to students about "Making Qualilty Comments".  You can check out the photos above to get the gist of the lesson.  Students were paired up and had the opportunity to both create a post and then make a quality comment on their partner's post. 

D.A.R.E. Lessons with Officer Fontaine

Last week, Officer Fontaine began a 4-week series of D.A.R.E. lessons in first grade.

The first lesson was about Personal Safety.

This week, students played the role of a detective, looking for clues in regard to helpful or harmful products that you may find in your cupboards at home.  Students will bring home a resource sheet this week to share with you about the lessons.
